Data Recovery & Security

Can you recover my lost files?

In most cases, yes! We have successfully recovered data from:

  • Crashed hard drives
  • Accidentally deleted files
  • Formatted drives
  • Corrupted storage devices
  • Water-damaged computers

Our success rate depends on the specific situation and condition of your storage device. We offer a free evaluation to assess recoverability before proceeding with any data recovery service.

Important: To maximize chances of recovery, stop using the device immediately if you suspect data loss and contact us as soon as possible.

Is my data safe with you?

Absolutely. We take data privacy and security very seriously:

  • All technicians sign strict confidentiality agreements
  • We never access personal files without your permission
  • Data is transferred and stored securely
  • We follow industry best practices for data handling
  • All recovered data is returned directly to you and then permanently deleted from our systems

For additional security, you may request that we perform repairs without accessing your personal files whenever possible.

How do I know if my computer has a virus?

Common signs of a virus or malware infection include:

  • Slow performance
  • Frequent crashes or error messages
  • Pop-up ads when no browser is open
  • Programs starting or closing automatically
  • Unusual hard drive activity
  • Changed browser homepage or search engine
  • Missing or corrupted files
  • Emails sent from your account without your knowledge

If you notice any of these symptoms, it's best to stop using the computer for sensitive activities (like online banking) and contact us immediately for virus removal services.

Can you remove ransomware?

Yes, we have extensive experience dealing with ransomware infections. Our approach includes:

  • Isolating the infected system to prevent spread
  • Identifying the specific ransomware variant
  • Attempting decryption using available tools
  • Recovering files from backups when possible
  • Completely cleaning the system
  • Implementing protection against future attacks

Success depends on the ransomware type and how quickly you act. Some newer ransomware strains may require alternative recovery methods if decryption isn't possible.

Note: We never recommend paying ransom demands as this funds criminal activity and doesn't guarantee file recovery.

On-Site Service

What should I do to prepare for an on-site visit?

To make your service visit as efficient as possible:

  • Have your computer powered on if possible (unless it won't turn on)
  • Note any error messages or symptoms
  • Gather any power cords, accessories, or software discs
  • Make sure there's a clear workspace near an electrical outlet
  • Have your Wi-Fi password available if needed
  • Back up important data if possible
  • Make a list of any questions or concerns

Our technician will call before arriving to confirm the appointment and may ask additional questions to help prepare.

How long does an on-site repair take?

On-site repair times vary depending on the issue:

  • Diagnosis: Typically 30-60 minutes
  • Software issues: 1-3 hours
  • Virus removal: 2-4 hours
  • Hardware repairs: 1-3 hours (may require follow-up visit if parts need ordering)
  • Network setup: 2-4 hours

For complex issues that can't be resolved in one visit, we'll provide options for completing the repair either through a follow-up visit or by taking the device to our shop.

Do I need to be present during the on-site service?

For residential services, an adult (18+) must be present for the entire duration of the visit. For business services, we can often work with a designated point of contact who may not need to be present the entire time.

If you can't be present, alternative arrangements can be made such as:

  • Leaving the device with a trusted neighbor or family member
  • Using a lockbox or secure location for device drop-off
  • Scheduling the visit during your business hours (for workplaces)

We cannot leave technicians alone in homes without the homeowner/resident present.

What safety precautions do you take for in-home visits?

We take COVID-19 and general safety very seriously:

  • All technicians are fully vaccinated
  • Masks worn upon request
  • Hand sanitizer used before and after each visit
  • Equipment sanitized between jobs
  • Contactless payment options available
  • Technicians will maintain appropriate distance
  • Same-day health screenings for all staff

If you have specific safety requests, please let us know when scheduling your appointment and we'll be happy to accommodate.
